DAY 1 • Depart USA for Bangkok, Thailand

Your transpacific flight aboard Northwest Airlines (Los Angeles) or United Airlines (San Francisco) to Bangkok is included as part of your main tour arrangements.

 
DAY 2 • Arrive Bangkok, Thailand

You are met and escorted to the hotel.

DAY 3 • Bangkok to Yangon, Myanmar

Fly to Yangon, capital of Myanmar.Visit gilded Shwedagon Pagoda and popular Scott Market, housed in a picturesque colonial-era building (closed on Mondays).

DAY 4 • Yangon/Bagan

This morning, fly to Bagan. The 5,000 temples and shrines rising from Myanmar's central plain at Bagan are a spectacular sight.Visit Ananda Pahto, dating from 1105 AD; Swezigon Pagoda; Ku Byannuk Gyi, Khay Min Ga and Ananda Temples, and Myinkaba Village for lacquer ware. Later, return to your hotel. Watch the dramatic sunset over Bagan.

DAY 5 • Bagan/Mandalay

Fly to Mandalay, former capital of Myanmar. Visit Maha Gandayon Monastery to donate food to its monks; Kyauktawgyi Pagoda with its colossal Buddha; Sandamani Paya; the Maha Muni Pagoda, the city's holiest shrine; Kuthodaw Pagoda; and Shwenandaw Kyaung Monastery. Then visit a local crafts workshop, with time to browse in the local market. Then see the colorful sunset from atop Mandalay Hill.

DAY 6 • Mandalay Ava/Sagaing/Amarapura Excursion

Today's excursion takes you to Inwa (Ava), capital for more than 400 years.Visit Nanmyin, an ancient leaning watchtower, and the monasteries of Maha Aungye Bonzan and Bagaya Kyaung. Continue to Sagaing, a city widely regarded as the religious center of Myanmar. See Tupayong Paya Pagoda, then visit Datpaungzu Paya and Hsinmyashin Paya pagodas. Then visit Amarapura, known as the “City of Immortality.” Four pagodas that marked the corners of the city walls still remain, as well as a watch tower and treasury building. Also see U Bein's Bridge on shallow Taungthaman Lake, the longest teak bridge in the world. Return to Mandalay.

DAY 7 • Mandalay/Heho/Inle Lake

Fly from Mandalay to Heho, and drive from Heho to Inle Lake, where a boat takes you to your hotel. Take an excursion on scenic Inle Lake, where the calm waters are dotted with floating gardens and villages built on stilts. See village life, local methods of fishing and the fishermen's unique “leg-rowing techniques.” Overnight at your lakeside hotel.

DAY 8 • Depart Inle Lake/Heho/Yangon for Bangkok

This morning, cross Inle Lake and continue by motorcoach to Heho. Transfer to the airport for your flights to Yangon and on to Bangkok, where you begin the main portion (on Day 2) of your Pacific Delight Tours trip.
